Welcome to the Fifth Dimension – a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity…and a thrilling place to improvise!
Twilight Zone utilized a plethora of genres to tell its stories. You’ll learn:
1) How to improvise medium-length episodes (20ish minutes) in the world of the ground breaking show. Go from the supernatural, to the post-apocalyptic, to the furthest reaches of outer space, all seen through the lens of the original time-period of the show (the late 1950’s).
2) The story structures of the original episodes, finding and exploring a premise from the beginning of an episode, and improvising those famous twist endings, without any idea of what that ending might be before it happens.
3) How to explore other time periods as rich improvisational playgrounds, and play sub-genres within those (50’s science fiction, 50’s horror, etc.).
The class will conclude with a public multi-episode show in late October.
So come explore the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. Make up stories that lie between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge…in The IMROVISED Twilight Zone.
The Improvised Twilight Zone is playing at BATS every Friday in October, and a comp for each night is included in the tuition fee.
