Passing the Bechdel Test

In August 2016, BATS premiered The Bechdel Test, a completely original improv show that put fully-expressed female characters front and center.

The show was performed just twice in 2016, once more at Stanford in Spring of 2017, and BATS held a sold-out Summer Session intensive on learning to play the format.

This October, The Bechdel Test gets its first full-month run at BATS, and for the first time creator \ director Lisa Rowland talks about how the idea came about, how the show was developed, and why it’s resonated so well with audiences…and what her favorite part of the shows has been.

The Bechdel Test plays every Saturday in October at BATS.
