Class Description:

But soft – what scenes through yonder curtain break?  It ‘tis the wondrous mirth of performers speaking spontaneous words as though written by the immortal Bard of Avon!

Improvised Shakespeare can be one of the most intimidating challenges for a performer. But with a little study, it can also be one of the most exhilarating.

The works of Shakespeare have been treasured for over 500 years, and will be for a long time to come. The grandeur of his settings, the vibrancy of his characters and the beauty of his language have been revisited, refreshed, renewed  and revered continuously for over half a millennia.

You’ll take a deep dive into improvising Shakespearean dialogue (not just sprinkling “thee’s” and “thou’s” everywhere), explore Shakespeare’s worlds and characters, and learn how to create outstanding short-form scenes and long-form shows.  You’ll even learn how to duel with space-object swords!
