Advanced Long Form: Performing Film Noir

Bayfront Theater, San Francisco
Schedule: 6 sessions and 2 performances
Class Dates: 7-10pm on Thursdays (and one Tuesday): October 27, November 3, 10, 17, (skip 24 for Thanksgiving, skip December 1), Tuesday, December 6, and Thursday, Dec. 8
Performances: 2 performances – Thursday, December 8 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 11 at 6pm
Class size: 8 students maximum
Class length: 3 hours (18 hours total of instruction)

This 6-week class will focus on the performance of a full length (90 minute) long form in the film noir genre.
We’ll explore the world of Post World War II America: wounded souls, femme fatales, double crosses, cheap booze, and expensive problems.

Most importantly, we’ll see how we can bring these stories which are seemingly the farthest from happy and healthy to the improv stage,  where we need to care about characters before awful things can happen to them.
