Students requested it and we’re bringing it back. So, dust off your Trapper Keeper, double up your shoulder pads and restock the Aqua Net… we’re time traveling to the 80’s and improvising in style. John Hughes was the king of 80s teen angst movies like Pretty Pink, 16 Candles, & The Breakfast Club.

This class will allow us to do a deep dive into this filmic format and culminate in a performance. Be ready to explore big emotional arcs, status, the specifics of this narrative flow and how life plays out when your teen brain isn’t yet fully formed. High school is filled with so much change, so many firsts, and fueled by hormones and New Coke – with one foot in childhood & one in adulthood it allows for big reactions, clear objectives, high-stakes status changes, and great opportunities for great storytelling.

Best of all, this format is just good plain fun to play! No need to already be familiar with these films or even the 80s, we’ll build together and have fun reference material. It’s going to be a totally tubular time!
