Studio Scene Work

Prerequisite: Foundation 3
Schedule: 4 weeks, ongoing
Class length: 2 hours (8 hours total)
Class size: 10 students maximum
Tuition: Varies by class

In Studio Scene Work students hone their improv skills and narrative storytelling.

Students will learn:
  • Identifying the basic information of the scene.Who are these characters, how do they know each other, where are they, and why are they there?
  • Embodying the basic information of the scene. How can we as actors, shift our body, face, voice, and imagination to establish and support the world we are creating.
  • Scene structure:including how to effectively start and end scenes, and how to build momentum in the middle.

Studio Scene Work is ongoing and students may continue monthly until their coach feels they are ready for Beginning Performance Level. If the student has no desire to perform they may continue their learning and growth in the personalized safe and creative atmosphere of Studio Scene Work.

ONGOING Studio Scene Work means there is no set end date and students are encouraged to make the class their home base of improv.

In the ongoing classes, students work with the same coach for an extended period of time. This helps them deepen their work and focus on individualized challenges. The coach has individual progress in mind as they advance the class and tailor it to the needs at hand. Subsequent coaches come in that bring specific skills to the ensemble.
