As BATS improvisers, we often find ourselves producing humorous scenes without intending to. In this class we’ll attempt to answer the questions: what makes for funny improv? How can we make our audience laugh while staying true to the principles of good improv?
In this one-day intensive for intermediate to advanced improvisers, we’ll build on foundational BATS skills of grounded, connected improv and add on concepts from comedic formats in order to hone in on the humor in the scene. We’ll explore concepts like the game of the scene, beats, physicality, sincerity, and playing at the top of your intelligence.
