William Funk

Will has been improvising his entire life, but only began to formalize that skill in college as a member of the Stanford Improvisors (SImps). He fell in love with the art of improv, in particular improvised musicals, and has since tried to bring in as many fundamentals of improv into his own life as possible.

Since graduating college, Will has performed with Un-Scripted Theater company as well as a new group of musical improvisers known as the Polite Society Players! He has had the privilege of coaching San Mateo High School Improv Team (SMIT) for the past two years, performing a variety of short and long-form formats. This year, he led the team of 10 high schoolers in creating a new long-form murder mystery improv format that they devised and performed in just a couple of months!

Will dances whenever he moves his body, and he isn’t afraid to get messy. Off the stage, Will can be found improvising at work as an analyst at a nonprofit foundation! Prior to that, Will ran a nonprofit camp for kids affected by a parent’s cancer, and he delights in spreading improv’s teachings to young people as a tool for them to use as they continue their journeys of life.
