Mark is a BATS School of Improv graduate who started his love affair with improv in
1993, during college as a performer in Liquid Soap, an episodic improvised soap opera.
Since then, he has made it his life’s work to inject improv into his professional youth and
theater work from the YMCA and Volunteer Center of Alameda County to his current
work at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton, California where he manages
Pleasanton Youth Theater Company for The City of Pleasanton.
Mark is the founder and director of the award-winning teen improv troupe Creatures of
Impulse (COI). COI has the honor of being the only teen improv troupe to represent the
State of California at the Teen Comedy Festival in Chicago for four years, the only teen
improv troupe to perform at the New York Musical Improv Festival, has performed at
West Coast Musical Improv Festival three years, and was awarded Best of Fest in 2019
at the San Francisco Improv Festival.
Mark’s latest improv work has created The City of Pleasanton’s first adult improv troupe
member-named Creatures of Habit and brought applied improv team trainings to
agencies like Pleasanton Unified School District, Marriott Hotels, The City of Oakley,
and garnered four key-note speech engagements and a TEDx presentation.
