  HONEY SWEET and the NECTARS
A 70's Soft Rock/Soul Trio

Pete Sweet met Honey O'Honey when they were mistakenly double booked to play the piano lounge of the St Louis Airport Hyatt in 1971.

They instantly bonded over their love of accessible pop soul music and their shared Caucasian attractiveness. Thus was born Honey Sweet.

They noticed early on that certain gigs seemed to have a richer sound than others. An early fan, Dolores Los Nectares, often sat in the front row and harmonized with their act. Police were called and charges filed. But then their manager, the late Gil Goldstein, had an epiphany: What if they took on this somewhat deranged stranger as a backup vocalist?

No musical act had ever had a lead duet with single back-up singer. On January 24, 1974 in front of a sold-out crowd crowd in Duluth Minnesota, all that changed. Honey Sweet and the Nectars (Dave Dennison, Diane Rachel, Gerri Lawlor) was born.

Throughout the 1970's HSTN had a number of chart climbing hits including:

I Savor the Taste of Your Flavor
Mmmm Mmm (How Ya Gonna) Oohhh Yeah
Gonna Love Ya Like the Sun (Settin' Down on You Lady)
If I We're a Blind Man, My Sense of Love Would be Stronger
Sugar Beet Pie

Musical scholars describe Honey Sweet and The Nectars as the fusion of Tony Orlando and Dawn with The Captain & Tennille, spiced with the raw edginess of Peaches and Herb. HSTN has been remarkably stable over the decades, producing album after album of stylistically identical music on the same butterscotch colored vinyl that all their LPs are pressed on.

If continuing to sell out concerts in Turkey and Azerbaijan is any indication, they must doing something right.
