The Harold
The format that put San Francisco improv on the map!

Date: Friday, August 15
Time: 8pm
Tickets: $12 advance / $15 door
Ensemble: Main Stage Company

The Harold, often called the "granddaddy of all long-form improv formats," began right here in San Francisco.

When Del Close left Chicago's Second City in 1965, he came to San Francisco to play with the Merry Pranksters and the Grateful Dead. He also helped create an improv company called The Committee, where he began his revolutionary work on The Harold.

The Harold is a series of scenes based on one suggestion. This classic form uses all aspects of improvisational theatre in collaboration between the actor and the audience. The Harold has not been performed by the BATS Main Stage Company since our phenomenal production directed by one of Del Close's students and legendary Bay Area improv coach Jim Cranna. Don't miss its return during our Summer Improv Festival!

Online box office closes at 7 p.m. the night of the show. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the theater the night of the show.
