Kung
Pao Kosher Comedy Shows to Benefit BATS Improv's Laughing
Stock Program
San
Francisco (November 16, 2004) - Partial proceeds from
the 12th annual Kung Pao Kosher Comedy shows will
go to support the BATS Laughing Stock program, which
provides free improv classes for people living with
HIV/AIDS and other chronic illness.
The stand-up comedy shows, which promise "Jewish
comedy on Christmas in a Chinese restaurant"
will run Dec. 23-26 at the New Asia Restaurant in
San Francisco.
There are eight shows over four nights. Early evening
performances include a seven-course Chinese meal;
late-night shows include egg rolls and drinks. Performers
include Judy Gold, Page Hurwitz, Brad Zimmerman and
Lisa Geduldig.
For more information about the shows or to purchase
tickets, visit http://www.koshercomedy.com/.
In 1998, BATS Improv began its Laughing Stock program,
which offers free improvisation classes to people
living with HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C, cancer, and other
chronic, life-threatening illnesses.
Laughing Stock classes focus on strengthening quality
of life through humor, physical activity, group interaction,
risk-taking, and imagination games. It is a safe and
confidential environment for participants to learn
the basics of improv. It's not standup comedy nor
drama therapy; it's an improvisational theatre workshop
for folks with all levels of performing experience.
